Why doesn’t the patch grid in SpyderCHECKR correspond to the target image?

There could be several reasons why the order of the color patches looks incorrect in the SpyderCHECKR software.

Please make sure to read the entire answer below:

1: Ensure you are using the correct Mode (SpyderCHECKR 48 or SpyderCHECKR 24) found in the Preferences of the SpyderCHECKR software. If you import a file that does not correspond to the proper mode (for example a 48-patch target image with the SpyderCHECKR 24 mode) then you will not be able to align the patch targets with the target image.

2: If the patch grid is rotated 180 degrees (so that its upside down) or 90 degrees (either horizontally or vertically), go back to your original image and make sure that the pre-crop image is right-side up so that the Datacolor logo reads correctly. When you crop the target image again, make sure to crop down entirely to the SpyderCHECKR frame (use the white dots in the corners as orientation). If you are using the SpyderCHECKR 24, crop within the outer black boarders of the target. As a guideline, you should not see any background showing on the image that you send to the SpyderCHECKR software; crop the image so only the target is in the image.

3: It is important to move the color target grid so it is centered within each patch. The target grid can be moved by clicking within the grid.  The target grid can also be stretched or contracted by clicking the edges or corners of the grid. Use these two methods to align the target grid so it lines up as close as possible to the center of the patches.
