"Spyder3TV is for calibrating stand-alone displays, that is, displays that ARE NOT being driven by a computer. In this capacity the product assists the user in adjusting the controls on the display: Brightness, Contrast, Color, Tint, Color Temperature.

Spyder3Elite is for calibrating displays that ARE being driven by a computer's VGA or DVI output. The product assists the user in adjusting Brightness, Contrast and White Point controls on the display. Spyder3Elite also calibrates the Gamma and White Point using the video card.

Therefore, if you are using your CRT or LCD monitor to display images from your computer, Spyder3Elite is the correct product. If you want to calibrate your TV for use with non-computer video sources, such as a DVD player, then Spyder3TV would be appropriate."
