I currently own Spyder2PRO. Spyder3Elite looks very tempting as a replacement, but what do I really gain from trading up?

If Spyder2PRO is meeting your calibration needs, then you are fine as-is. Possible reasons for considering Spyder3Elite include its enlarged measuring aperture, more sensitive detectors, and other hardware improvements, as well as new software functions, such as StudioMatch, which helps insure monitor to monitor matching, the Expert Console, which allows advanced users to control all settings and options for a given monitor in one window, and SpyderProof, which offers a color managed preview of a wide range of difficult content matter to check your calibration.
