In some cases on some Windows 10 systems (Spring Creators Update – 1803 from April 2018 and Windows 10 Build 1809 from November 2018) on some laptops, users have encountered an issue with the display profile randomly turning on and off which creates a flickering effect.
Often this can be forced by plugging in/out a USB device.
Below are several ways we have found that can work around this issue while Microsoft prepares a fix:

1) Update your Graphics Card
Windows does not automatically update graphics card and display drivers after a Windows update.  Out of date drivers can often cause issues and we have seen out of date drivers contribute to this flickering issue.

Download and install the latest graphic card driver from the graphic card manufacturers website. Install just on top.

2) Activate the function Windows display calibration
Go to the classical Windows Control Panel (Windows Startmenu -> Windows System -> Control Panel.
Under View by (upper right) select "Large icons" and click on "Color Management"
On the tab "Devices" for the monitor the option "Use my settings for this device" has to be activated.

Go to the tab "Advanced" and click on the button "Change system defaults..." (lower left).

A new window "Color Management - System Defaults" will open (it looks very similar to the previous one).

Go to the tab "Advanced" and enable the option "Use Windows display calibration" (lower right).

Now close the window "Color Management - System Defaults" and the window "Color Management".

Important: Do never use the Windows build-in calibration function, as it will not use a sensor for the calibration
Simply use the Spyder software as normal.

Useing this workaround may cause a very short flickering (less than a second) on activity at the USB-bus.
