I've just installed my new copy of Spyder3Elite and find the new features to be way cool. But I think I need some help with the new Expert Console. I'm a bit scared that I'll do something crazy, with all those controls at my fingertips.

That's why it's called the "Expert" Console; we only expect advanced users to choose it over the easier Assistant Interface. Even for experts, its important to allow the New Display assistant to run to define each of your displays, and then (if you are interested in advanced display matching) its a good idea to run StudioMatch, and define an appropriate Studio Target. After that, your Studio Target will come up as the preselected choice in Expert Console. That simplifies using the Console, by eliminating manually defining ambient light levels, gamma and whitepoint, as well as black and white luminance for each display.
