I intend to mount SpyderLensCal on a tripod outdoors, under an awning, as part of a daily photo education session, and have all that day’s students shoot it. Is this type of usage allowed without special permission? Are there any special tips?

Since SpyderLensCal does not use any Datacolor software, there are no Datacolor license agreement software restrictions. So there is no limit to the number of cameras you can calibrate with SpyderLensCal. For long-term outdoor use, I would agree that an awning would be a good idea, as the restricted light will make shooting easier, and less direct sunlight will reduce aging of the target. You might consider using a piece of gaffer’s tape on the back of the ruler and adjacent section of the main target to lock SpyderLensCal in its upright position as well, if its going to be outside in the wind.
